There's always a spot for the first hero

I sold my first hero at a tag sale for a buck
Times were changing and I could use a little luck
Optimus Prime's paint had peeled
His arms were off and he could barely move
He gave me so much and I gave him so little
When I look back his memory is so brittle.
Ten years later heroes change and heroes are all gone
Like the dead grass on a winter's front lawn
They could make you laugh and they could make you cry
But when their candle dims, it's time for them to die.
